Important Overdraft Protection Information

Recent federal regulatory changes that take effect August 15, 2010 will have an impact on the standard overdraft protection offered by Avidia Bank. Federal law now requires that you tell us if you want to include your ATM and everyday debit card transactions as part of our standard overdraft service.

This means that we have to have your approval before we authorize payment of an ATM withdrawal or everyday debit card transaction that may result in an overdraft of your checking account. Your decision to "opt-in" and allow the bank to approve these types of transactions can help avoid the potential embarrassment and inconvenience of having a transaction denied at a store, restaurant or an ATM for example.

All you have to do to continue receiving the same type of service for these types of transactions is simply “opt-in” before August 15, 2010 and you can accomplish this in a variety of ways:

  • Call our automated Informant Line at 888-290-4636 and select Option 7
  • Call Customer Service at 800-508-2265 and tell them you want to make a selection regarding your overdraft protection
  • Complete the "opt-in" form by clicking here and mail it to us or drop it off at any branch office
  • If you are an Internet Banking customer, log into your account and file the form onliine.

Once you "opt-in" we will send you a notice confirming your choice. There is obviously no cost for this service unless you use it.
