Consumer Lending Officer

We are searching for a lending pro to manage the underwriting team in our Consumer Lending department.  The ideal candidate will have solid lending experience including underwriting, originating and knowledge of loan documentation, combined with strong systems abilities.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Management of the underwriting team to ensure underwriters are well trained and current with products, underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.Ensure all loans are handled in an effective, efficient and expeditious manner. Provide back-up to underwriting team as needed and approve requests within assigned lending authority. Products include (but not limited to) residential solar, auto, personal, credit cards and micro business loans (with and without SBA guarantees).

  • Responsible for coaching, development and performance evaluations of underwriting team.

  • Administration of all aspects of the consumer loan/credit card origination technological solution, including but not limited to document creation and maintenance, interfaces with third parties, data integrity, implementation of software updates, workflow design, and participation in vendor user group conferences and calls to ensure optimal performance.

  • Utilize effective communication to provide support to branches and colleagues throughout the Bank, as well as external business partners and vendors, to maintain a high level of customer service.

  • Develop, implement and maintain robust written procedure framework relating to consumer, credit card, solar and micro business lending that is in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and industry best practices.

  • Develop, analyze, and complete monthly management reports, including reports related to the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).Assist the Community Reinvestment Act Officer with all related regulatory requirements.

  • Departmental liaison for periodic internal and external compliance audits and reviews.

  • Ability and willingness to carry out special projects and other duties as assigned by management.

 

Requirements:

  • Associates degree with 10+ years banking experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a lending role directly responsible for underwriting and loan decision making with established lending authority. The ideal candidate must have sound decision-making skills and able to make decisions independently, efficiently and expeditiously.

  • Must have strong knowledge of federal and state banking compliance issues and regulations and experience implementing new technological solutions, including loan origination solutions.

  • Must have superior written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to write procedures, develop and implement processes, prepare effective presentations and communicate to a wide variety of audiences.

  • Must have proven organizational, analytical, problem solving, attention to detail and customer service skills as well as supervisory ability and experience.

  • Must be proficient in computer skills, including but not limited to MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint), and able to work well in a paperless, automated environment.

  • Prior experience with CRIF ACTion loan origination solution and QuestSoft Compliance Relief solution desired but not required.

  • Prior experience with small business and SBA lending preferred but not required.
