Driven to Move People with Integrity and Honesty
Scott Corbin never imagined he would be in the position he is today – head of a highly successful auto sales business with a 30-year track record of success.
In his younger years, he wasn’t sure what to do with his life. He did, however, have a few important attributes that he believes have been key to his success: a relentless work ethic and strong faith.
He also was surrounded by people who saw his potential and believed in him, including a friend who gave him career advice that would alter the direction of Scott’s life.
“He told me I should sell cars,” he recalls.
Scott was receptive to the idea but only if he could do it in a different way – by putting people first.
“I wanted to give people the best experience possible by making car buying straightforward, simple, and affordable.”
Fortunately, he had a business banker and a bank that also believed in him – Avidia.
“I worked really hard to get here, but I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for Avidia. They believed in me from the beginning and gave me a line of credit,” he shares. “I can’t say enough about them.”
Thirty years later, Scott hasn’t looked back. His business, Variety Auto Sales of Worcester, is an independently operated business that sells about 70 high-quality, low-mileage cars per month.
The true indicator of his success is that 99% of Scott’s business comes from referrals – a direct result of his straightforward, honest approach to car buying.
“I always tell people that when they go to a dealership, there’s no need to have a salesperson take you for a test drive and then throw you to someone in a back office who is just trying to make as much money as possible.”
Rather, he believes in providing a positive, seamless, and transparent buying experience that delivers the best possible price and a commitment to standing behind the customer.
“We always strive to do the next right thing – to always stand behind customers, even if something goes wrong.”
Banking on shared values of honesty and integrity
Scott’s value for honesty and integrity is one of the reasons he still has a strong relationship with Avidia and why the name of his company proudly shines on Avidia’s Honest to Goodness Small Business Wall at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field, home to the Worcester Bravehearts of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.
You could say Avidia and Scott make a great team.
“Avidia works the same way we do. Be good to people and they will come to you.”
