It happens to the best of us. You misplace or lose your debit card somewhere at home. Or leave it inside an ATM. Or worse, realize it has been stolen. Your first instinct is to call your bank immediately and request a new card. Your second one is to stress when you realize that getting a replacement card could take days. You can’t help but wonder:  How will I pay for groceries…or gas… or that tub of ice cream I now want to drown my sorrows in?

If you’re an Avidia Bank debit card customer and have an iPhone,® you now have a way to make those purchases without your actual card – with our new digital card and Apple Pay. With this new feature, information on your replacement debit card is sent immediately to your Avidia Mobile Banking App, allowing you to integrate your card information with Apple Pay to make easy purchases.

You’ll still receive your physical card by mail in a few days,  but in the meantime you can make purchases with your new card number anywhere Apple Pay is accepted. What’s more, when you receive your actual card, it will have the same number as your digital card, so there’s no need to update your card information on Apple Pay.

Our new digital card feature offers a variety of benefits, including:

• The ability to make purchases immediately. When you report your lost or stolen card debit card, we’ll issue your digital card on the spot. All you have to do is log in to Mobile App, tap Digital Wallet, select to link your card to Apple Pay, and accept the terms. Your new card information will be automatically added to Apple Pay.
• Security. Using Apple Pay is more secure than carrying a card, since you won’t have to worry about your card ending up in the wrong hands. In addition, all the information from your purchases is encrypted at the time of the transaction, so your card data is not stored with merchants who accept Apple Pay.
• Convenience. If your card is lost or stolen while you’re away, you can get your digital card anytime by calling Avidia’s 24-hour customer service center. There’s no need to come into a branch.
